The work of Timon & Melchior Grau revolves around humans’ capacity to feel, remember and connect. Their practice is driven by a belief that light is a vessel for values that can challenge and enrich people’s openness for multiple and evolving perspectives.
Timon & Melchior Grau (b. 1990 and 1991, Hamburg) live and work in Berlin. They studied fine arts at the University of Arts Berlin with professor Ai Weiwei and Hito Steyerl, before graduating from Städelschule in the class of professor Willem de Rooij in 2021. Their work was awarded with the German Design Awards in Gold, iF Award as well as Red Dot Award. In 2021 they became Creative Directors of GRAU, a German lighting brand based in Hamburg.
